How to troubleshoot broadband connectivity issues for the LG LRM-519 DVR/DVD Recorder

SUMMARY
This article describes how to troubleshoot network connectivity issues for LG LRM-519 DVR/DVD Recorder with the Microsoft Program Guide service on a broadband connection.
Broadband connectivity issues can be caused by one or more of the following circumstances:

The recorder is disconnected from the network; the Ethernet cable is unplugged. |
| • | The manual connection is incorrectly configured. |
| • | A Dynamic Host Configuration protocol (DHCP) failure has occurred. |
| • | A DHCP failure has occurred on the proxy server. |
| • | The DHCP for the proxy server is missing or incorrect. |
| • | A proxy server is being used when a proxy server is not needed. |
| • | The Internet Protocol (IP), subnet mask, or gateway address is incorrect. |

To troubleshoot software updates, follow these steps:
| 1. | Determine whether another broadband device on your home network, such as the computer, can connect to the Internet.
|
| 2. | Verify that your broadband connection settings are correct. To do this, follow these steps:| a. | Start the recorder. | | b. | Select Settings, and then select Phone and Network Setup. | | c. | Under Set up Connection, verify that Use Broadband is selected. | | d. | On the Connection page, select Use Wired (Ethernet) Connection. | | e. | Select Configure Network, and make sure that the following settings are correct and complete:| • | For connections that use static IP addresses:| 1. | Select Static IP, and then enter the IP, subnet mask, gateway, and DNS addresses that are provided by your Internet Service Provider (ISP).
| | 2. | Select Next, and then select Connect. |

|  | For connections that use dynamically acquired IP addresses:| • | If you connect through a proxy server:| 1. | Select Proxy Server used. | | 2. | Enter the proxy server name and port number. | | 3. | Verify that the recorder's Ethernet cable is inserted into the correct port. | | 4. | Select Next, and then select Connect. |
| | • | If you do not connect through a proxy server:| 1. | Select No Proxy Server used. | | 2. | Select Next, and then select Connect. |

| 3. | If the issue is not resolved, contact your broadband services provider regarding the network status. |

Support Procedures
| 1. | In the DVR Support tool, search for the Service ID to verify the customer's subscription status. |
| 2. | In CAP, click Tools, click Launch Support Tools, and then open the Connectivity Management Tool (CMT). |
| 3. | In the Connection log, select the Customer Connection History check box. |
| 4. | Guide the customer through steps 1 - 3 in the "Resolution" section in this article. |
