This Microsoft Support WebCast is intended for anyone who builds distributed systems on the Microsoft platform by using remote procedure call (RPC), DCOM, COM+, Message Queuing (also known as MSMQ), .NET Framework remoting, ASP.NET Web services (ASMX), or Web Services Enhancements (WSE). Windows Communication Foundation (formerly code named "Indigo") is the strategic distributed systems technology from Microsoft that supersedes all our existing distributed systems technology stacks. Windows Communication Foundation is the foundation for effectively building next-generation distributed applications that require interoperable, secure, reliable, transacted communications.

Richard Turner is a product manager in the Web Services Strategy Group at Microsoft. He spends lots of his time consulting with customers, partners, and colleagues about distributed systems technologies at Microsoft. Richard provides guidance and assistance in how to best use these technologies to smooth the path to WCF in the future. Before moving to Redmond in January 2003, Richard was a principal consultant in Microsoft United Kingdom (U.K.) and was involved in many projects including the implementation of the U.K. government gateway. He also helped customers make best use of enterprise technologies at Microsoft, such as COM+ and SQL Server. Life before Microsoft is something of a hazy memory that involved lots of code and many, many late nights!
