The 32-bit version of the SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services Instance Rename tool (ASInstanceRename.exe) does not work correctly on a 64-bit computer
SYMPTOMS
The 32-bit version of the Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services Instance Rename tool (ASInstanceRename.exe) does not work correctly if the Instance Rename tool is installed on a 64-bit computer.
WORKAROUND
If the 32-bit version of SQL Server Tools is installed on a 64-bit computer, follow these steps:
- Uninstall the 32-bit version of SQL Server Tools.
- Install the 64-bit version of SQL Server Tools from the SQL Server 2005 product CD.
MORE INFORMATION
In the future, you will be able to download a separate stand-alone update to resolve this problem.
