The load-balancing status may not be set correctly in Application Center 2000 when you drain a node from load-balancing
SYMPTOMS
When you drain a node from load balancing, the
load-balancing status may not be set correctly in Microsoft Application Center
2000. This problem occurs in the Application Center snap-in and when you use
the Application Center 2000 command-line tool (Ac.exe) to monitor the status.
For example, when you run the
AC LOADBALANCE /STATUS command, the load-balancing status that is returned is
Online when you expect the status to be
Offline.
Note This problem only occurs in Microsoft Windows Server
2003.
CAUSE
This problem occurs because of a bug in the Windows
Management Instrumentation (WMI) Event Log provider. The WMI Event Log provider
may take longer than expected to notify WMI subscribers of events. Because
Application Center 2000 subscribes to WMI for load-balancing events, this delay
may cause Application Center 2000 to return the incorrect load-balancing
status.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, install the hotfix that is
described in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
833010Â
(http://kbalertz.com/Feedback.aspx?kbNumber=833010/
)
The WMI Event Log provider takes a long time to notify the WMI subscriber when multiple event logs are written to an event log file

Community Feedback System
Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high
and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances
are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back.
Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what
didn't.
Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be
correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each
other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're
not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry
edits), please consult a professional.
