You receive a "Name or Password is incorrect..." error message when you try to log on to Age of Mythology online
On This Page
SYMPTOMS
When you try to log on to Microsoft Age of Mythology online, you cannot log on. Additionally, you receive the following error message:
Name or Password is incorrect. Passwords are case sensitive. Make sure your caps lock is not on and try again.
CAUSE
This issue may occur if one of the following conditions is true:
- You typed an incorrect Microsoft Passport Network account.
- You typed an incorrect password.
- You typed a password that contains a plus (+) sign.
RESOLUTION
If you forgot or lost your password, you cannot retrieve your password for the account that you have created on Ensemble Studios Online. You must create new user account.
Create a new account
- Start Age of Mythology.
- Click Multiplayer, and then click Online.
- Click New Account, and then follow the directions that appear on the screen.
Note You can create as many user names as you want to online by using a single CD key. You must wait about five minutes after you log off your old user name before you log on by using your new user name. This gives the system time to clear your user name association with your CD key. Only one user name that is associated with a CD key can be logged on at the same time.
APPLIES TO
- Microsoft Age of Mythology
- Microsoft Age of Mythology Gold
- Microsoft Age of Mythology: The Titans

Community Feedback System
Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high
and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances
are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back.
Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what
didn't.
Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be
correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each
other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're
not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry
edits), please consult a professional.
Thank you for using kbAlertz.com Feedback System.
