SYMPTOMS

When you try to reinstall Microsoft Age of Mythology: The Titans, the game does not install. Additionally, you receive the following error message:
Previous version of Titans exists and needs to be uninstalled.

CAUSE

This issue may occur if Age of Mythology: The Titans was not fully removed.

RESOLUTION

Warning If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.
To resolve this issue, follow these steps:
1.Remove Age of Mythology: The Titans. To do this, follow these steps:
a. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
b. Click Add or Remove Programs.
c. In the Currently installed programs list, click Microsoft Age of Mythology: The Titans if it is present, and then click Remove.
d. Click Yes to confirm that you want to remove the game.
2.Remove Age of Mythology: The Titans from the registry. To do this, follow these steps:
a. Click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.
b. Locate and then click the following registry key if it is present:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\MicrosoftGames\AOM
c. Right-click the AOM key, and then click Delete.
d. Click Yes to confirm the deletion of the registry key.
e. On the File menu, click Exit.
3.Remove the Age of Mythology: The Titans executable file. To do this, follow these steps:
a. In Microsoft Windows Explorer, locate and then click the following folder:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\AOM
b. In the AOM folder, delete the Aomx.exe file if it is present.
4.Reinstall Age of Mythology: The Titans.
