FIX: An exception error is not caught as expected when you pre-JIT compile Microsoft intermediate language code on a computer where the .NET Framework 1.1 is installed

For a Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1 version of this article, see 890465  (http://kbalertz.com/Feedback.aspx?kbNumber=890465/ ) .

SYMPTOMS

When you use the Native Image Generator (NGen) tool (Ngen.exe) to pre-just-in-time (JIT) compile Microsoft intermediate language (MSIL) code into native binary code, an exception error may not be caught as expected on a computer where the Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 is installed. When this issue occurs, an unhandled exception occurs and the application quits.

When you do not use the NGen tool to pre-JIT compile the source code, the exception error is caught as expected.
