FIX: An IndexOutOfRangeException exception may occur when you delete a row in a DataGrid control in the .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1
On This Page
SYMPTOMS
Consider the following scenario. You create a Windows Forms application in Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003 for the Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1 (SP1). The following conditions are true:
- The Microsoft Windows Forms application contains a DataGrid control.
- The DataGrid control contains a data source.
- The data source adds two columns. The AllowDBNull property for the second column is set to false.
Then, you compile the application, run the application, and take the following steps:
- Type data into the two columns in the first row.
- Type data into the first column in the second row.
- Click the row header in the first row. After you do this, you receive the following error message:
Column 'Column_Name' does not allow nulls. Do you want to correct the value?
Note Column_Name represents the name of the column. - Click Yes. Notice that the first row is selected.
In this scenario, when you press DELETE, the following problems occur:
- A red X appears in the DataGrid control. Additionally, the data that you typed in all the columns is cleared.
- An IndexOutOfRangeException exception occurs.
