The SOAP Toolkit tools do not work correctly after you install SOAP Toolkit 3.0 in Windows NT 4.0
SYMPTOMS
After you install the Microsoft SOAP Toolkit 3.0 tools on a computer that is running Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 with Service Pack 6 (SP6), you experience all the following symptoms:
- If you try to run the Trace Utility, you receive the following error message:
The ordinal 6597 could not be located in the dynamic link library MFC42.DLL.
- If you try to run the WSDL Generator utility, you receive the following error message:
Run-time error '339'
Component 'MSCOMCT2.OCX' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid
- If you try to access a Web service that uses the WebService behavior, Microsoft Internet Information Server returns a time-out error. You receive this error even if you try to access the Web service locally.
CAUSE
This issue occurs if the Microsoft Visual Basic run-time files are not installed in Windows NT 4.0.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, install the Visual Basic run-time files, remove the SOAP Toolkit 3.0 program, and then reinstall the SOAP Toolkit 3.0 program. To download the Visual Basic run-time files, visit the following Microsoft Web site:
