The SOAP Toolkit tools do not work correctly after you install SOAP Toolkit 3.0 in Windows NT 4.0

SYMPTOMS

After you install the Microsoft SOAP Toolkit 3.0 tools on a computer that is running Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 with Service Pack 6 (SP6), you experience all the following symptoms:
  • If you try to run the Trace Utility, you receive the following error message:
The ordinal 6597 could not be located in the dynamic link library MFC42.DLL.
  • If you try to run the WSDL Generator utility, you receive the following error message:
    Run-time error '339'

Component 'MSCOMCT2.OCX' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid
  • If you try to access a Web service that uses the WebService behavior, Microsoft Internet Information Server returns a time-out error. You receive this error even if you try to access the Web service locally.

CAUSE

This issue occurs if the Microsoft Visual Basic run-time files are not installed in Windows NT 4.0.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, install the Visual Basic run-time files, remove the SOAP Toolkit 3.0 program, and then reinstall the SOAP Toolkit 3.0 program. To download the Visual Basic run-time files, visit the following Microsoft Web site:

Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what didn't.

Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each other.
