Content that you encode by using the Windows Media Video 9 Screen codec in Producer 2003 is not as sharp and as clear as content that was encoded by using the Windows Media Video 7 Screen codec in Producer 2002

SYMPTOMS

After you upgrade to Microsoft Producer for Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2003, any content that you encode by using the Microsoft Windows Media Video 9 Screen codec is not as sharp and as clear as content that was encoded by using the Windows Media Video 7 Screen codec in Microsoft Producer for PowerPoint 2002.

RESOLUTION

A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. If you are not experiencing this specific problem, you do not have to upgrade your existing version of Producer 2003.

Note The fix for Microsoft Producer 2003 is designed to increase the visual quality of any new content that you capture. The visual quality of any content that you capture before you install the fix is not improved and you must recapture this content by using the updated version of Producer 2003 to see any improvement in the visual quality of the captured content.

The following update is available for download from the Producer 2003 Product Information Web page. Visit the following Microsoft Web site, click Download Producer 2003, and then follow the instructions that appear on the screen:
After the update version of Producer has been installed, your version of Producer should be 2.0.1389.0. To check the version number, click About Microsoft Producer on the Help menu.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
