How to back up and restore the registry in Windows
SYMPTOMS
You are using a proxy script to determine the proxy server settings for a connection in Windows Internet Explorer 7, in Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 2 (SP2), or in Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1 (SP1). However, after the proxy script is downloaded from the server, the proxy server settings in Internet Explorer are not set correctly. You may have to manually configure the proxy server settings.
CAUSE
This problem occurs if the following conditions are true:
- The proxy script is split in two frames by using chunk encoding.
- The second frame only has the endmarker of the chunk.
In this scenario, Internet Explorer incorrectly processes the script.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, install security update 942615 for Internet Explorer.
