Error message when you try to update construction information in Streets and Trips or in MapPoint: "A new construction file is not available at this time"

SYMPTOMS

When you try to update construction information in any one of the products listed in the "Applies To" section, you may receive the following error message:
A new construction file is not available at this time. Try downloading new construction information again later.

CAUSE

This problem may occur if the wrong download location is stored in the Windows Registry.

RESOLUTION

Warning If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.

To resolve this problem, modify the Windows Registry. To do this, follow the steps in the section that corresponds to the product where you are experiencing the problem.

Microsoft Streets and Trips 2003

  1. Close Streets and Trips 2003.
  2. Click Start, click Run, type Regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.
  3. Expand the Windows Registry, and then locate the following registry key:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Automap\10.0\USA
  4. Under Name in the right pane, right-click ConstructionFileSite, and then click Modify.
  5. In the Value data box, type the following line, and then click OK:
    http://download.microsoft.com/download/d/a/9/da98f695-7748-41ab-a9f4-1de514b9acb7/
  6. On the File menu, click Exit to exit the Windows Registry.
  7. Start Streets & Trips 2003, and then try to update the construction information.

Microsoft Streets and Trips 2004

  1. Close Streets and Trips 2004.
  2. Click Start, click Run, type Regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.
  3. Expand the Windows Registry, and then locate the following registry key:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Automap\11.0\USA
  4. Under Name in the right pane, right-click ConstructionFileSite, and then click Modify.
  5. In the Value data box, type the following line, and then click OK:
    http://download.microsoft.com/download/0/c/b/0cb77db7-d45b-41db-b51c-bf59faa6411c/
  6. On the File menu, click Exit to exit the Windows Registry.
  7. Start Streets & Trips 2004, and then try to update the construction information.

Microsoft Streets and Trips 2005

  1. Close Streets and Trips 2005.
  2. Click Start, click Run, type Regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.
  3. Expand the Windows Registry, and then locate the following registry key:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Automap\12.0\USA
  4. Under Name in the right pane, right-click ConstructionFileSite, and then click Modify.
  5. In the Value data box, type the following line, and then click OK:
    http://download.microsoft.com/download/a/d/e/adee0969-9311-4ee1-8a7b-abb3e01e6875/
  6. On the File menu, click Exit to exit the Windows Registry.
  7. Start Streets & Trips 2005, and then try to update construction information.

Microsoft MapPoint 2004 North American Maps

  1. Close MapPoint 2004 North American Maps.
  2. Click Start, click Run, type Regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.
  3. Expand the Windows Registry, and then locate the following registry key:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MapPoint\11.0\USA
  4. Under Name in the right pane, right-click ConstructionFileSite, and then click Modify.
  5. In the Value data box, type the following line, and then click OK:
    http://download.microsoft.com/download/0/c/b/0cb77db7-d45b-41db-b51c-bf59faa6411c/
  6. On the File menu, click Exit to exit the Windows Registry.
  7. Start MapPoint 2004 North American Maps, and then try to update the construction information.
