Markup command is unavailable when you use Ink Annotations

SYMPTOMS

You use the Ink Annotation feature in Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2003 or in Microsoft PowerPoint 2007 on a Microsoft Windows XP Tablet PC Edition-based computer. Then, you view the presentation in Microsoft PowerPoint 2002. When you do this, the Markup command to hide and display markup information such as annotations may be unavailable.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs when there are only ink annotations in a presentation. PowerPoint 2002 does not see only ink annotations as a markup change.
To work around this behavior in PowerPoint 2002, follow these steps:
  1. Open the presentation in PowerPoint 2002.
  2. On the Insert menu, click Comment.
  3. Click anywhere on the slide outside the comment box.
  4. On the View menu, click Markup.

MORE INFORMATION

When you add a blank comment, PowerPoint 2002 enables the Markup command. The Markup command hides or displays all comments, ink annotations, and tracked changes.

APPLIES TO
  • Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007
  • Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2003
  • Microsoft PowerPoint 2002 Standard Edition
  • Microsoft Windows XP Tablet PC Edition

Community Feedback System

Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back. Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what didn't.

Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry edits), please consult a professional.

Thank you for using kbAlertz.com Feedback System.
