This article describes the new features of the Microsoft
Office PowerPoint Viewer. The PowerPoint Viewer is included with Microsoft
Office PowerPoint 2003.
The Microsoft Office PowerPoint Viewer is a program that is
used to run presentations on computers that do not have Microsoft PowerPoint
installed. By default, the Office PowerPoint Viewer is added to the same disk
or network location that contains one or more presentations that you packaged
by using the Package for CD feature.
The PowerPoint Viewer has been
improved with high fidelity output, including support of PowerPoint graphics,
animations, and media. No installation is required for the new Viewer. By
default, your presentation files that are packaged with the new Package for CD
feature, include the Viewer. Additionally, the Viewer supports viewing and
printing. The updated Viewer runs on Microsoft Windows 98 Second Edition or
later.
Presentations that are password-protected for opening or for
modifying can be opened by the PowerPoint Viewer. With the Package for CD
feature, you can package any password-protected file or set a new password for
all packaged presentations. The PowerPoint Viewer prompts you for a password if
the file is open password-protected.
By default, the PowerPoint Viewer
is installed with your Microsoft Office 2003 installation for use with the
Package for CD feature. The PowerPoint Viewer file is also available for
download from the Microsoft Office Online Web site.
