Administrative rights are needed to install ActiveSync
SYMPTOMS
When you install Microsoft ActiveSync on Microsoft Windows
2000 or on Microsoft Windows XP from a user account that belongs to one of the
following groups
- Power Users
- Guest Users
- Replicators
- Backup Operators
you will notice one of the following error messages:
Setup could not copy the file
'\\products\public\Products\Applications\User\ActiveSync3.6\core\inf\wceusbsh.cat'
(copyt error -1). Restart your desktop computer and run Setup
again.
You must has administrator rights to
install Microsoft ActiveSync. If you do not have such user rights, contact your
system administrator.
Setup has detected
that unInstallShield is in use. Please close unInstallShield and restart
setup.
Error 432.
CAUSE
ActiveSync Setup installs hardware and drivers. For some of
these changes, the user account must have Administrator rights.
RESOLUTION
To install ActiveSync, add the user account to the
Administrators group.
STATUS
This
behavior is by design.
