How to use the Acremover.exe tool

SUMMARY

The Acremover.exe tool tries to remove the remnants of unsuccessful Application Center installations or removals.

Important Use Acremover.exe only when any of the following are true:
  • You have to remove a Service Pack 1 installation on a server that has been upgraded to Microsoft Windows Server 2003.
  • The removal of Service Pack 1 was unsuccessful.
  • The installation of Service Pack 2 was unsuccessful.
In certain circumstances, you may be prompted to locate the Msizap.exe file and put it in your %PATH%. You can find this file on the Windows CD-ROM in the Support\Tools folder. If you have not already installed the support tools, you must install them at that time.

When you run Acremover.exe in Windows Server 2003, the following registry key may be required before Acremover.exe will run:
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\MSAC\MSSQLServer\SuperSocketNetLib REG_SZ Certificate = 0
Note Running Acremover.exe will remove this key. You may have to re-add this key to reinstall Application Center 2000.

Community Feedback System

Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back. Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what didn't.

Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry edits), please consult a professional.

Thank you for using kbAlertz.com Feedback System.
