MSBBN: Cannot Configure Base Station During Setup or Connect to a Network

SYMPTOMS

You cannot configure your broadband base station during setup. If you cancel setup and try to manually configure the base station, you can obtain a base station Internet Protocol (IP) address but you cannot connect to the network. You also cannot logon to the Base Station Management Tool.

CAUSE

This issue may be caused by the Verizon Communications PPPoE dialer software. This issue has been known to occur with Windows Millennium Edition.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, you must remove the Verizon software from your computer.

To remove the Verizon software, follow these steps.

Note Have your Verizon username and password available, you must have them to connect to the Internet.
  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
  3. Locate and remove all programs that contain Verizon in their name.
  4. Restart your computer.
  5. Re-run setup.
