FIX: Error 8623 is Raised When SQL Server Compiles a Complex Query

SYMPTOMS

When SQL Server tries to compile a plan for a complex query, you might receive the following error message:

Server: Msg 8623, Level 16, State 1, Line 1 Internal Query Processor Error:
The query processor could not produce a query plan. Contact your primary support provider for more information.
The error is not based on any particular query construct, and it is not limited to any particular database environment, or statistics distribution.

RESOLUTION

Service pack information

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft SQL Server 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

Hotfix information

The English version of this fix has the file attributes (or later) that are listed in the following table. The dates and times for these files are listed in coordinated universal time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the Time Zone tab in the Date and Time tool in Control Panel.

4 observations: 1) the query which raises this error is not complex at all and runs perfectly outside the stored procedure 2) it raises the error only inside the sotred procedure 3) it's the first query of the soterd procedure 4) I've already installed SP4 withoout benefits Ettore http://www.gridviewtoexcel.com
