Some areas of the Microsoft .NET Framework version 1.0 do not have security-enhanced methods to store the user name field and the password field for the
processModel configuration element and for the identity. Also, some areas do not have security-enhanced methods to store the connectionString field for the
sessionState configuration element.
A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next .NET Framework 1.0 service pack that contains this hotfix.

When you install this hotfix, it will tell you that it is installing Q328267. This hotfix is also labeled as Q328267 when you try to remove it.
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
This hotfix addresses the problem by letting you encrypt and then store this information in the registry.

To store your credentials in the registry, follow the steps in Q329290. After you finish the steps, edit your Config file so that it reads the information from the registry. To do this, use the following sample code:
