PRB: Error When You View Application Center 2000 Product Version

SYMPTOMS
When you click the
About Application Center link in the Application Center 2000 Microsoft Management Console (MMC), you receive the following error message:
Required installation settings are incorrect or could not be read. Application Center may need to be reinstalled.

The
User,
Product ID,
Edition, and
Version information fields in the
About dialog box are blank.
CAUSE
Microsoft Windows Installer 2.0 changes the location where product information is stored in the registry. You can install Windows Installer 2.0 individually or as part of Microsoft Windows 2000 Service Pack 3.
STATUS
This problem was corrected in Application Center 2000 Service Pack 2.
MORE INFORMATION
This problem does not affect any other Application Center 2000 functionality. Application Center still functions correctly and does not need to be reinstalled.
Steps to Reproduce the Behavior
- Install Windows 2000 Service Pack 3.
- Install Application Center 2000 with Service Pack 1.
- In Administrative Tools, open the Application Center 2000 MMC.
- In the left pane, click Application Center.
- In the right pane, click About Application Center.
