"MSIEXEC File Is Linked to Missing Export MSI.DLL:222" Error Message When You Run Setup

SYMPTOMS
When you try to install one of the Microsoft products
listed in the "Applies to" section, you may receive an error message that is
similar to the following:
The MSIEXEC file is linked to
missing export MSI.DLL:222.
CAUSE
This problem may occur if the Microsoft Windows Installer
files on your hard disk are damaged.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, update Window Installer to the
latest version, and then rerun Setup for the Microsoft program that you want to
install. To update Windows Installer, follow these steps.
For Microsoft Windows 98, Microsoft Windows 98 Second Edition, and Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition (Me)
Visit the following Microsoft Web site, and then download and
install Windows Installer 2.0:
For Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 and Microsoft Windows 2000
Visit the following Microsoft Web site, and then download and
install Windows Installer 2.0:
