You receive the "unspecified error" error message when you publish a presentation in Producer for PowerPoint 2002

SYMPTOMS
When you try to publish a Microsoft Producer presentation,
you receive the following error message:
CAUSE
This problem occurs if Setup did not update DirectX when
you installed Microsoft Producer.
RESOLUTION
To correct this problem, download and install DirectX 8.1
from the following Microsoft Web site:

Microsoft
has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed
at the beginning of this article.
MORE INFORMATION
To confirm that you have version 8.1 of DirectX installed,
follow these steps:
- Click Start, and then click Run.
- In the Open box, type dxdiag and then click OK.
- In the DirectX Diagnostic Tool dialog box, click the System tab.
If you have DirectX 8.1 installed, the DirectX Version field will contain the following or similar text:
DirectX 8.1 (4.08.01.0810)
