Set Reminder command appears dimmed in Project 98 and in Project 2000

SYMPTOMS
In Microsoft Project, when you attempt to set a reminder, you may notice that the
Set Reminder command is unavailable (appears dimmed).
CAUSE
By design, the
Set Reminder command is enabled only if compatible versions of Microsoft Project and Microsoft Outlook are installed on the computer. Combinations of the two products that allow the
Set Reminder command to work include the following.

RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, use one of the following methods, as appropriate for your versions of Outlook and Microsoft Project.
Method 1: Install Compatible Version of Outlook
Install a version of Outlook that is compatible with your version of Microsoft Project.
Method 2: Install Fix for Microsoft Project 2000
NOTE: This method is only for Microsoft Project 2000.
A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that this article describes. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.

By design, the
Set Reminder command allows you to move a task from Microsoft Project into your Outlook task list. The reminder on the new Microsoft Outlook task is automatically turned on, and you are prompted to type the amount of time before the task's start date and start time for the reminder to be activated.
