SYMPTOMS
In Microsoft Plus! Voice Command for Windows Media Player, when you use the following command to instruct Microsoft Windows Media Player to play a song by a particular artist
Media Player, play artist artist name
you may receive the following error message on the Language bar:
This behavior can occur even though your Media Library contains songs by that particular artist.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur if the name of the artist contains numbers. For example, Windows Media Player may not recognize commands similar to the following:
Media Player, play artist UB40
-or-
Media Player, play artist U2
WORKAROUND
To work around this issue, use either of the following methods.
Method 1
Click
Media Library, click the name of the artist whose songs you want to play under
Artist, and then click
Play. Or, if you want to play a particular song by that artist, select the track in the right pane, and then click
Play.
Method 2
For each track that you want to play, edit the artist information to remove the number or numbers from the artist's name, and then issue the appropriate voice command. To do this, follow these steps:
- Click Media Library, and then click the name of the artist whose songs you want to play under Artist in the left pane.
- In the Artist column in the right pane, right-click the track that you want to edit, and then click Edit.
- Remove the number or numbers from the artist's name, and then press ENTER.
