After you have installed Application Center 2000 Service Pack 1 (SP1), if you want to remove Application Center 2000, and then install the program again, you must follow a specific order of steps.

The following is the correct sequence for using Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel to remove, and then re-install Application Center 2000.
Remove Application Center 2000 from a Cluster Controller and Disband the Cluster
If the server from which you want to remove Application Center 2000 is a cluster controller, and you want to disband the cluster, follow these steps:
- Remove cluster members. Repeat the following steps for each cluster member:
- Open the Application Center MMC Snap-In
- Expand the Application Center tree to locate Members.
- Right-click the member that you want to remove.
- Click to select All Tasks.
- Click Remove Cluster Member.
- In the Confirm Remove dialog box, click OK.
- In the Server Authentication dialog box, type credentials with administrative rights to the server that you want to remove.
- Click OK.
- After you remove all of the cluster members from the cluster, remove the cluster controller by disbanding the cluster:
- On the Application Center tree, under Members, right-click the cluster controller.
- Click to select All Tasks.
- Click Disband Cluster.
- In the Confirm Remove dialog box, click OK.
- On each of the former cluster members, at a command prompt, go to the Application Center subdirectory, and then run the following command:
ac cluster /clean - At the confirmation prompt, type Y, and then press ENTER. All of the cluster information is removed from the server, and will not cause conflicts if you re-install Application Center 2000.
- On the Start menu, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
- In Add/Remove Programs, click to select Application Center 2000 SP1 on the list of currently installed programs.
- Click Change/Remove to remove Service Pack 1 for Application Center 2000.
- Click OK to confirm the removal of Application Center 2000 SP1.
- Click to select Application Center 2000.
- Click Remove to remove Application Center 2000.
- In the confirmation dialog box, click Yes.
- Re-install Application Center 2000 by following the typical setup steps.
- Re-apply Service Pack 1 for Application Center 2000, if you require it.
Remove Application Center 2000 from a Cluster Controller and Do Not Disband the Cluster
If the server from which you want to remove Application Center 2000 is a cluster controller, and you do not want to disband the cluster, follow these steps:
- Assign a member server to become the new cluster controller. To do this, follow these steps:
- Open the Application Center 2000 MMC Snap-in.
- Expand the Application Center tree to locate Members.
- Right-click the member server that you want to make the new cluster controller.
- Click to select All Tasks.
- Click Designate as Controller.
- In the confirmation dialog box, click Yes. The original cluster controller is converted to a member server.
- To remove Application Center 2000 from the member server, follow the steps in the "Remove Application Center 2000 from a Member Server" section.
Remove Application Center 2000 from a Member Server
If the server from which you want to remove Application Center 2000 is a member server, follow these steps:
- Remove the member server from the cluster. To do this, follow these steps:
- Right-click the member that you want to remove.
- Click to select All Tasks.
- Click Remove Cluster Member.
- In the Confirm Remove dialog box, click OK.
- In the Server Authentication dialog box, type credentials for an account that has administrative rights to the server that you want to remove.
- Click OK.
- On the cluster member, at a command prompt, go to the Application Center subdirectory, and then run the following command:
ac cluster /clean - At the confirmation prompt, type Y, and then press ENTER. All of the cluster information is removed from the server, and will not cause conflicts if you re-install Application Center 2000.
- On the Start menu, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.

- Re-apply Service Pack 1 for Application Center 2000, if you require it.
SUPPORT INFORMATION
This is the order of steps that is supported; no other order is supported. If you do not follow this order, Add/Remove Programs may include a link to Application Center Service 2000 Service Pack 1, but the computer could have only Application Center 2000 RTM files.
