In Microsoft Project 2002, you may experience long delays
when you save or when you open an Enterprise project plan. Long delays may also
occur when you click the
Tools menu, and then click
Build Team from Enterprise.
This problem may occur if the following conditions are true:
- You have many projects or resources that are stored in the
database. You may experience a long delay if, for example, 3000 resources are
defined and you try to display the Build from Team dialog box.
Project 2002 may require several minutes to read all the resources and the
summary assignment records to determine the availability of each
resource.
- All or many of your Project Enterprise resources are
assigned to all projects.
- Some Project Enterprise resources are assigned to many
projects. For example, long delays may occur if only 15 resources are each
assigned to 1000 different projects.
When Project 2002 opens an Enterprise project, all the data
that the project requires is loaded into memory. Additionally, Enterprise
resources require that the summary assignment information also be loaded for
all projects that are assigned to the resource. This contrasts with projects
that are saved in the Microsoft Project (*.MPP) format. Projects saved as *.MPP
do not load the resource assignment information.
