Application Center 2000 allows a custom installation path to be used when you install the product either through the Setup graphical user interface (GUI) or the command line.
If you want to use the command line to install Application Center 2000 to a custom path or drive other than the default path on the system drive, use the following command line (for this example, drive C: is the system drive):
msiexec /i "E:\Microsoft Application Center 2000.msi" /q /lv* D:ac.log INSTALLDIR="D:\Microsoft Application Center\"
Here, a custom property,
INSTALLDIR, is used to support the installation path to a different drive. (
NOTE: There should be no line break in the actual command line syntax.)
If you want to suppress the reboot from an unattended installation, use this command:
msiexec /i <CDImagePath> /q REBOOT="ReallySuppress"
NOTE: Adding "REBOOT=ReallySuppress" to an Msiexec.exe command line prevents an automatic or prompted reboot to occur. It works fine for most setup situations with Application Center. If a reboot is required by the Windows Installer (for example, situations with system files in memory), then the installed package may not work until the computer is restarted manually.
Suppressing the reboot can be useful for preparing images or using sysprep. For example, when the customer installs Windows, AC, and then sysprep, an extra reboot makes that process harder.
