Organization charts become smaller when you convert a PowerPoint 2000 presentation to PowerPoint 2002 or to PowerPoint 2003

This article was previously published under Q293211

SYMPTOMS

When you convert an organization chart in a presentation that was created in Microsoft PowerPoint 2000, the chart is greatly reduced in size.

NOTE: To convert an Organization Chart that was created in an earlier version of PowerPoint, double-click the Organization Chart.

CAUSE

When you open the presentation in Microsoft PowerPoint 2002 or Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2003, the organization chart may be larger than the slide on which it was placed in PowerPoint 2000.

WORKAROUND

To correct this problem, use the appropriate method for your situation.

Method 1: Change the Organization Chart Size After Conversion

If you have already converted the Organization Chart to PowerPoint 2002 or later, resize the chart to the size that you want. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Click the organization chart to select it. On the Format menu, click Organization Chart.

NOTE: If Organization Chart does not appear on the Format menu, click the gray, hatched area around the organization chart to select it.
  2. On the Size tab, change the Height and Width settings to the size that you want, and then click OK.

NOTE: If the Lock aspect ratio check box is selected, and you change either the Height or Width setting, the other setting automatically changes proportionally.

Method 2: Change the Organization Chart Size Before Conversion

To reduce the size of the chart before you convert it to PowerPoint 2002 or PowerPoint 2003, follow these steps:
  1. Click the organization chart to select it. On the Format menu, click Object.
  2. In the Format Object dialog box, change the Height setting on the Size tab to be less than 7.5 inches. Change the Width setting to be less than 10.0 inches, and then click OK.

NOTE: If the Lock aspect ratio check box is selected, and you change either the Height or Width setting, the other setting automatically changes proportionally.
  3. Double-click the organization chart, to convert it to PowerPoint 2002 format or PowerPoint 2003 format.

STATUS
