PRJ2000: Project Appears to Stop Responding When You Save a Shared Resource Project File to a Database
This article was previously published under Q291937
SYMPTOMS
In Microsoft Project 2000, when you save a project to a database, and that project uses a resource pool that is stored in a separate database, Microsoft Project may appear to stop responding for a long time.
You do not receive an error message.
CAUSE
This problem may occur if the Data Source Name (DSN) that you use to save the project uses Windows Authentication rather than Microsoft SQL Server Authentication.
RESOLUTION
A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.
If the hotfix is available for download, there is a "Hotfix download available" section at the top of this Knowledge Base article. If this section does not appear, submit a request to Microsoft Customer Service and Support to obtain the hotfix.
Note If additional issues occur or if any troubleshooting is required, you might have to create a separate service request. The usual support costs will apply to additional support questions and issues that do not qualify for this specific hotfix. For a complete list of Microsoft Customer Service and Support telephone numbers or to create a separate service request, visit the following Microsoft Web site:
Note The "Hotfix download available" form displays the languages for which the hotfix is available. If you do not see your language, it is because a hotfix is not available for that language.
The English version of this fix should have the following file attributes or later:
Date Time Version Size File name
------------------------------------------------------------
10-APR-2001 10:52 433,152 Msproject.msp
After the hotfix is installed, the following files will have the listed
attributes or later:
Date Time Version Size File name
---------------------------------------------------------
10-APR-2001 10:52 9.0.2001.329 782,389 pj9od9.dll

Community Feedback System
Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high
and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances
are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back.
Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what
didn't.
Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be
correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each
other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're
not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry
edits), please consult a professional.
