On This Page
SYMPTOMS
When you copy an item in any of the Microsoft Office XP programs listed at the beginning of this article, the item may not be added to the Office Clipboard and you are not warned that the Office Clipboard memory is full.
CAUSE
This problem occurs when you copy an item that causes the Office Clipboard to exceed 4 megabytes (MB) of random access memory (RAM) for computers with 64 MB of built-in RAM or 8 MB for computers with more than 64 MB of built-in RAM.
WORKAROUND
To work around the problem, use either of the following methods.
Method 1: Clear the Office Clipboard
- On the Edit menu, click Office Clipboard.
- On the Clipboard task pane, click Clear All.
This removes all previously copied items from the Office Clipboard.
- Copy the item again.
Method 2: Remove Selected Items from the Office Clipboard
If you already have many items on the Office Clipboard, you can selectively remove items to free memory.
- On the Edit menu, click Office Clipboard.
- The contents of the Clipboard are displayed on the task pane. Point to the item that you want to delete, and then click the arrow that appears next to the item.
- Select Delete on the menu that appears.
- Copy the item again.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

Community Feedback System
Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high
and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances
are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back.
Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what
didn't.
Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be
correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each
other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're
not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry
edits), please consult a professional.
