INFO: Event ID: 8025 Monitoring OnlineAction Failure

This article was previously published under Q288580

SUMMARY

Event ID: 8025
Source: Application Center
Description: Could not update Online property
Event Type: Error

The online property could not be updated to %OnlineStatus%. The error code is %Status%: %StatusMessage%.

Meaning: The online status of the member displayed in the snap-in could not be updated.

Effect: The online status of the member displayed in the snap-in might be inaccurate.

Possible Causes and Solutions

Stopped services: One or more of the services that Application Center depends upon has stopped. Check the following services by using the Services utility in Control Panel:
  • Application Center Synchronization
  • Application Center Cluster
  • Application Center Log Query Helper
  • Application Center Name Resolution
  • IIS Admin
  • Remote Procedure Call
  • Windows Management Instrumentation
Network failure: A network failure ended the connection between the controller and the cluster member.

Wrong parameter: The (command line) parameter passed to AC.exe is incorrect.

To check the parameters:
  1. Open the Health Monitor snap-in, and then click Actions.
  2. Click Bring Server Online.
  3. Open the property sheets, and then check the parameter. The parameter should be online 1 0.
  4. Also check the same property for Take Server Offline. The parameter should be online 0 0.
Other Solutions (listed in order of preference):
  1. Set the member online by using the snap-in or by running AC.exe.
  2. Restart the other computer.
  3. Restart the cluster controller.
  4. Use the Support Online link in the Events view.
  5. Contact Microsoft Product Support Services:

Community Feedback System

Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back. Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what didn't.

Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry edits), please consult a professional.

Thank you for using kbAlertz.com Feedback System.
