INFO: Event ID: 4032 Cluster TimeSync SyncFailed

This article was previously published under Q288298

SUMMARY

Event ID: 4032
Source: Application Center
Description: Current time could not be synchronized with controller.
Event Type: Error

The current time on the member was not synchronized with the cluster controller. This might affect time-based operations on this member. The error code is %Status%%StatusMessage%.

Meaning: The current time on the member cannot be synchronized with the cluster controller. Either the cluster controller was not available or there was an error on the member.

Effect: The time and date on the member might be different than on the cluster controller. This might affect time-based operations on the member, such as monitoring status roll-up information being inaccurate. This does not affect other cluster members.

Possible Causes and Solutions

No permissions: The access permissions or network privileges have been changed on the member.

Cluster member not available: Either the member is not turned on or has been renamed or there is a network failure.

Also investigate:
  • Try to contact the member by typing ping <server name> at the command line.
  • Disk failure on the member.
  • Network failure.
  • Power failure.
Other Solutions (listed in order of preference):
  1. Restart the computer.
  2. Use the Support Online link in the Events view.
  3. Contact Microsoft Product Support Services:

Community Feedback System

Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back. Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what didn't.

Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry edits), please consult a professional.
