SYMPTOMS

When you change the picture layout of your photo album slides in the Format Photo Album dialog box in Microsoft PowerPoint, the picture layout is changed. However, blank slides unexpectedly remain in your presentation.

This issue occurs when the following conditions are true:
  • You select 1 picture with title in the Picture layout list of the Format Photo Album dialog box when you create your presentation.
  • You add titles to the slides in your presentation.
  • You select 1 picture in the Picture layout list of the Format Photo Album dialog box, and then click Update.
  • You select 2 pictures or 4 pictures in the Picture layout list of the Format Photo Album dialog box, and then click Update.

CAUSE

This issue occurs because the blank slides have titles. The Photo Album Wizard does not delete slides that have been edited after they were modified by the Photo Album Wizard. The Photo Album Wizard also does not delete slides that were added to the presentation after you run the wizard.

WORKAROUND

To remove the blank slides that you do not want, use one of the following methods.

Method 1

Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007

On the Slides tab, right-click the slide that you want to delete, and then click Delete Slide.

Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2003 and Microsoft PowerPoint 2002

  1. Click the Slides tab.
  2. Select the slide that you want to delete.
  3. On the Edit menu, click Delete Slide.

Method 2

PowerPoint 2007

  1. On the Slides tab, click the slide that you want to delete.
  2. On the Home menu, click Delete in the Slides group.

PowerPoint 2003 and PowerPoint 2002

  1. Click the Outline tab.
  2. Select the title of the blank slide, and then press DELETE.
  3. Repeat step 2 for all the blank slides.
  4. On the Format menu, click Photo Album.
  5. In the Format Photo Album dialog box, click Update.
