PRB: Uninstalling Application Center 2000 Causes Invalid Network Configuration
This article was previously published under Q279162
SYMPTOMS
When you uninstall Application Center 2000 on a system that is a member of an Application Center 2000 cluster, the system may have an invalid network configuration.
CAUSE
When you remove a member from a cluster, you need the Application Center 2000 remove member processing to restore a cluster member to a valid state. Uninstall does not attempt to determine cluster membership or execute the remove member procedures. As a result, some settings, including IP addresses, are not restored to their pre-cluster membership states.
RESOLUTION
If possible, remove an Application Center 2000 server from its cluster before you uninstall Application Center 2000.
STATUS
This behavior is by design.
MORE INFORMATION
If you attempt to uninstall Application Center 2000 on a cluster member by using the Application Center 2000 interactive uninstall, you receive a warning that you should remove the member from the cluster before proceeding. Silent uninstalls, including uninstalling through Control Panel Add/Remove Programs, does not issue a warning.
APPLIES TO
- Microsoft Application Center 2000 Standard Edition
Community Feedback System
Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high
and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances
are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back.
Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what
didn't.
Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be
correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each
other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're
not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry
edits), please consult a professional.
