Creating Multiple-Line, Single-Value Attributes in Construction Templates
This article was previously published under Q273471
When you create a single-value, multiple-line attribute in a construction template, you must incorporate the c_newline constant into the construction template.
For example, assume that there are three variables: $v1, $v2, and $v3. These are all single-value variables. To combine them into a single-value, multiple-line attribute, use the
c_newline constant. You can then specify the inclusion of a linefeed in the value:
$newVar = $v1 $c_newline $v2 $c_newline $v3
As with all variables that are used in a Microsoft Metadirectory Services (MMS) template, you must use a preceding "$" character to force the parser to recognize the constant as a value rather than as a literal string.
You must define the
c_newline constant in the management agent's
Design MA action, on the
Template Definitions tab. If required, add the following line to the
Template Definitions tab:
APPLIES TO
- Microsoft Metadirectory Services 2.1
- Microsoft Metadirectory Services 2.2 Service Pack 1
Community Feedback System
Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high
and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances
are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back.
Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what
didn't.
Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be
correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each
other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're
not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry
edits), please consult a professional.
Thank you for using kbAlertz.com Feedback System.
