Visio2000: Nudge Feature Moves Page Instead of the Selected Shape

This article was previously published under Q266447
For a Microsoft Visio 2002 version of this article, see 289758  (http://kbalertz.com/Feedback.aspx?kbNumber=289758/EN-US/ ) .

SYMPTOMS

When you select a shape on your drawing and use the arrow keys on your keyboard to move or "nudge" the shape (SHIFT+ARROW KEY), the entire page moves, rather than the individual drawing objects that are selected in the drawing window.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs when the SCROLL LOCK key is enabled. In this situation, the arrow keys move scroll bars along the right side and bottom of a drawing window.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, press SCROLL LOCK until your keyboard's Scroll Lock light (LED) is off.

Community Feedback System

Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back. Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what didn't.

Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry edits), please consult a professional.
