Visio2000: Error Message: "Source Model Cannot Be Found. Would You Like to Locate It (or Specify a Substitute)?"
This article was previously published under Q263479
When you open a source model in Visio 2000 Professional Edition or Visio 2000 Enterprise Edition, you may receive the following error message:
This model [Filename.vsd] cannot be found. Would you like to locate it (or specify a substitute)?
This is related to the project feature. If you move files from one folder to another, the project model cannot find the source models.
Each time Visio opens a model, it verifies the existence of each source model in the project. If Visio does not find the source model, it searches for the file in the folder where the project model resides. If Visio finds a source model of the same name in that folder, the program opens that source model. If Visio does not find a source model of the same name in that folder, then the message box that states that the source model cannot be found appears.
To resolve this problem, click
Yes when prompted to open the
Locate Source Model dialog box. You can use this dialog box to navigate to the source model in another folder.
NOTE: The missing file name appears in the first set of parentheses in the error message.
APPLIES TO
- Microsoft Visio 2000 Professional Edition
