Visio2000: Error Message: A list Cannot Be Generated Because No Valid Data Exists for the Selected List Form
This article was previously published under Q254724
When you try to generate a valve list form from the sample diagram in the Process Engineering samples folder, you may receive the following error message:
A list cannot be generated because no valid data exists for the selected list form.
The sample diagram "SamplePID1.vsd" is part of the Process Engineering project in the Visio\Samples\Process Engineering\Process Engineering Project folder. You receive the error message if you start the file separately from the Process Engineering project. This is because the project, not the file, contains the component data.
To generate a valve list, open the sample Process Engineering project first.
To generate a valve list form from the SamplePID1.vsd diagram: - Open Sample Project.vsd in the Visio\Samples\Process Engineering\Process Engineering Project folder.
- In the Project Explorer, double-click samplePID1.
- On the Process Engineering menu, point to Lists, and then click Generate Lists.
APPLIES TO
- Microsoft Visio 2000 Technical Edition

Community Feedback System
Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high
and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances
are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back.
Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what
didn't.
Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be
correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each
other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're
not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry
edits), please consult a professional.
Thank you for using kbAlertz.com Feedback System.
