Description of the Microsoft Windows Registry
When you use logging with Proxy Server, the log files are compressed by default. The compressed logs appear and act as files compressed with normal NTFS file system compression, even if NTFS compression is not enabled on the drive.
This article describes how to turn off the log file compression.
WARNING: If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may
require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve
problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own
risk.
To disable compression for packet filter logs:
- Start Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe).

- On the Edit menu, click DWORD, type 0, and then click OK.

Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high
and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances
are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back.
Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what
didn't.
Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be
correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each
other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're
not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry
edits), please consult a professional.
