Consider the following scenario:

• You install an instance of SQL Server 2008 or SQL Server 2008 R2 that is configured to use a case-sensitive collation.
• You create a SQL Server performance condition alert that uses one of the counters in the following table:
  Collapse this tableExpand this table

  Object	Counter
  SQLServer:Buffer Manager	Buffer cache hit ratio
  SQLServer:Transactions	Update conflict ratio

In this scenario, the alert is incorrectly raised.

Note This issue does not occur when the instance of SQL Server 2008 or SQL Server 2008 R2 is configured to use a collation that is not case-sensitive.

This issue occurs because a Transact-SQL statement in the msdb.dbo.sp_sqlagent_get_perf_counters system stored procedure uses an incorrect name to read the counter for the performance condition.

This system stored procedure tries to read the corresponding base counter by using an incorrect name for the counter. The incorrect name contains a letter that is the wrong letter case.
