Font substitutions - Macintosh to Windows
This article was previously published under Q189963
SUMMARY
This article provides information about substituting fonts when you convert
presentations from the Apple Macintosh to the Microsoft Windows platform.
MORE INFORMATION
If you convert a presentation from the Macintosh to Windows, you might
not have the same fonts on both computers. The following table shows how
you can convert Macintosh fonts by replacing them with Windows fonts.
Collapse this tableExpand this table
| Replace this Macintosh font | With this Windows font |
|---|
| Avant Garde | Century Gothic |
| Bookman | Bookman Old Style |
| Helvetica | Arial |
| N Helvetica Narrow | Arial Narrow |
| New Century Schlbk | Century Schoolbook |
| Palatino | Book Antiqua |
| Times | Times New Roman |
| Zapf Chancery | MonoType Corsiva |
| Zapf Dingbats | MonoType Sorts |
To replace a Macintosh font, click Replace Fonts on the Format menu.
In the Replace and With boxes, click the fonts you want to replace and
substitute. PowerPoint replaces the font but retains the Macintosh font
name.
Note To replace either Zapf Dingbats or Zapf Chancery, you must have a Postscript printer set as the default printer for your system, otherwise the fonts will not be replaced.
APPLIES TO
- Microsoft PowerPoint 97 Standard Edition

Community Feedback System
Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high
and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances
are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back.
Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what
didn't.
Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be
correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each
other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're
not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry
edits), please consult a professional.
Thank you for using kbAlertz.com Feedback System.
