FP98: Hover Button Doesn't Inherit Target Frame of Current Page

This article was previously published under Q185891

SYMPTOMS

When you insert a hover button on a page, it does not inherit the default target frame settings of the current page.

CAUSE

The hover button property does not reflect the actual default target setting of the page.

RESOLUTION

Set the target frame of the hover button to something other than the page default. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Open the frames page in FrontPage Editor.
  2. Right-click the hover button, and then click Java Applet Properties on the menu that appears.
  3. Click Browse.
  4. Click the Change Target Frame button.
  5. In the Common Targets list in the Target Frame dialog box, select the frameset you want to link to and then click OK.
  6. Click OK.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.

Community Feedback System

Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back. Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what didn't.

Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry edits), please consult a professional.
