FP98: Shared Borders Appear as Orphaned Pages
This article was previously published under Q184413
If you set FrontPage Explorer to show documents in hidden directories and you are using shared borders in your Web, the shared border files (Top.htm, Left.htm, Right.htm, Bottom.htm) will appear as orphaned pages in All Files view in FrontPage Explorer.
NOTE: This behavior extends to any images and Java-based programs inserted in the shared border files.
An orphaned page or file is a document that does not have a traceable path back to the home page in your Web. FrontPage Explorer traces this path by following the hyperlink reference (HREF) of the anchor (<A>) tag in the HTML documents in your Web. However, the shared border files are inserted by using table (<TABLE>) tags rather than anchor tags. The files show up as orphans because FrontPage Explorer cannot trace a link to the <TABLE> tags.
Although these files show as orphans, they will function correctly on the
published Web.

Community Feedback System
Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high
and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances
are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back.
Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what
didn't.
Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be
correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each
other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're
not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry
edits), please consult a professional.
Thank you for using kbAlertz.com Feedback System.
