Cannot Restore DoubleSpace-Compressed Backup with MS-DOS 6.22
This article was previously published under Q148479
If you back up files with compression using Msbackup.exe or
Mwbackup.exe using MS-DOS 6.0 or 6.2 and you then install MS-DOS 6.22, you may
not be able to restore your compressed backup.
In order to restore the backup, the MS-DOS 6.0 or 6.2
Dblspace.bin file and the Drvspace.mr1 file must be available on your hard
disk.
NOTE: When you upgrade MS-DOS 6.0 or 6.2 to MS-DOS 6.22, the
Dblspace.bin file should be left on the hard disk. However, if you install
MS-DOS 6.22 to a clean hard disk, the version of Dblspace.bin from MS-DOS 6.0
or 6.2 is not available. The Drvspace.mr1 file is included with the DoubleSpace
Conversion Kit. For additional information, please see the following article in

Community Feedback System
Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high
and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances
are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back.
Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what
didn't.
Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be
correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each
other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're
not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry
edits), please consult a professional.
Thank you for using kbAlertz.com Feedback System.
