Office Component Buttons Not Displayed on Toolbar

This article was previously published under Q136332

SYMPTOMS

When you install Microsoft Office, the Office components (Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Office Binder) are not displayed on the Office toolbar on the Office Shortcut Bar.

CAUSE

By default, when you install Office, the Office toolbar does not display the buttons for the Office components, although these items can be displayed on the toolbar.

Note that by default, the Office components are displayed on the Microsoft Office Manager (MOM) toolbar in Office versions 4.x.

RESOLUTION

To display an Office component as a button on the Office toolbar, do the following:
  1. Click the right mouse button on a blank space on the Office Shortcut Bar, and then click Customize.
  2. Click the Buttons tab.
  3. In the Toolbar list, click Office.
  4. In the Show These Files As Buttons list, select the check box next to the component for which you want to display a button, such as Microsoft Word.
  5. Click OK when you are finished adding buttons for the Office components.

Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each other.
